The second edition of Planted: Stories From Manitoba’s Natural World is for sale!
In the style of narrative non-fiction, I share the stories of eight people who are inspired by nature in Manitoba and have stories to tell because of it. I first published this book in 2017. In this second edition, there are a few updates, including a new preface, additions to chapters, and new drawings by my sister Rayna Meakin.

Once you send me that information, I’ll email you the total, and you can send me an e-transfer. If you’re picking up the book, I’ll give you some time options of when to come by.
The book is $25 with free Winnipeg pickup. Shipping to Canada is $4 per book, and shipping to the U.S. is $6 per book (for shipping outside Canada and the U.S., send me an email, and I’ll find out the cost). If you’re outside Canada, you can pay by credit card here.

Who does the money raised support?
Of the $25, 50 per cent will go toward humanitarian aid in Ukraine, the country of my ancestors and the country some of my friends and family call home.
russia’s cruel, unprovoked, full-scale war in Ukraine has been ongoing for five months.
Five months.
People are still dying. Cities are still being destroyed. russia is still trying to delete Ukraine, Ukrainian people, and Ukrainian culture from history. And though Ukrainians are strong, though they are going to win this war, they need our help. And one way we can help is by raising money so Ukrainians have what they need to survive as they defend themselves against russia.
Each time I raise $750, I will donate the money to a different place.
The first $750 will go to Ukrainian Patriot (UP). Completely volunteer-run, UP is a group of Ukrainians and people from around the world working to aid volunteers defending Ukraine and those civilians caught in the crossfires of russia’s brutal war. UP has relocated people to safer spots, manufactured military gear, and delivered much-needed aid and equipment. And that’s just a brief overview of all UP has done.
